The British Museum and Kew Royal Botanic Gardens
South African Landscape
Families Workshop 

In response to Kew Gardens and The British Museum Collaboration on South African Flora. The colourful geometric designs on the leaves are inspired by the South African Ndebele Tribe. This sculpture was made in conjunction with 749 adults and young people over 5 week period, 1 day per week with the assistance of 7 volunteers. The initial structure was pre welded with round bar mild steel and covered in chicken wire.

The recycled materials used are: plastic bags, bicycle inner tubes and bottle tops.

All recycled materials were collected from local pubs, homes and local bicycle shops

This piece was exhibited in The Great Hall of The British Museum for 2 weeks.
